Introduction

ICT has for almost 40 years been a passion. The first programming language that I used was Basic on a Commodore 64. Since then I have used a variety of languages such as Pascal, VB, C and Perl. Since discovering the Internet in 1993, my experience focuses especially on the field of websites and related applications, with particularly PHP as the main language. The common thread is always the efficient handling and processing of data. As a consequence I also have experience in database design, geographical analyzes and cd-rom-design.
From my role as information consultant for scientific research and since 2018 data protection officer at the university, the domain of online privacy and cybersecurity is also a specific focus.

Motivation

Technology is a means to an end, not an end in itself. An efficient use of information technology gives us the tools to use, collect and exploit information. This information can be used for better communication.
The combination of different tools gives this an extra dimension. With KPSOFT I try to provide and develop these tools for very specific questions.

Services

Humans are creative beings. Some make music, others write books, perform DIY or invent. For me developing websites or programming are a release for this creativity. Letting an idea grow in cooperation with a customer into a completed product is a unique feeling.

Activities

Below you find a list of activities of KPSOFT.
  • Websites (self-developed CMS)
  • Web surveys
  • Online databases
  • Offline databases
  • Geographical analysis
  • ICT Consultancy

Principles

While searching for a solution I always start with some simple principles.
  • The customer/user comes first
  • No ready-to-wear, but product/service made to measure
  • Form follows function
  • Correct prices and agreements
  • Respect for copyrights and privacy
  • Usability for all target groups

Projects

Without the ambition to give a full overview, I divided the various activities since 1995 in three broad groups. This gives an idea of the type of projects and clients for whom I worked.
Music
For more than 15 years I am particularly active in the music industry. For Rock Werchter (since 2007) and Dour Festival I have developed web-based applications for managing volunteers and other staff who work behind the scenes at the festivals. This data is linked to the access systems used by Playpass and Weezevent.
Live Nation Belgium, Dour Festival and Pukkelpop (and in the past Live Nation FR for the Main Square Festival) also use a custom purchase order system that I have created. In addition, there are some applications that are used during the preparation of the events on the terrain of Werchter.
General
Next to these two sectors, there are a number of other projects. I developed websites in the past for specific customers (e.g. for the youthcentre Vizit, VVOB and Progress Lawyers Network). Since 1999 the ombuds in the Mental Health Sector use Go-between.be, an (anonymous) registration system for patient registrations.
Other activities were inter alia geographic analysis for PricewaterhouseCoopers (period 1999-2013), an offline database for the interpreters of the Province of Antwerp (2004-2009) and a number of offline products such as CD-ROMs and flash presentations. Finally consultancy on certain aspects of ICT complete to the package.
